BARRETT, Virginia M. ‘Gina’ Gina, 49 passed away suddenly Saturday, February 8, 2014 at home in Lancaster, Calif. She was born June 15, 1964 at Fort Bragg Army Post, N.C. She was the daughter of David R. and Patricia M. (Bryan) Barrett. Gina graduated from Desert High School, Edwards AFB, Calif. She was employed as a medical billing clerk until she became disabled. She enjoyed cooking and reading and was a major fan of NASCAR racing. She is survived by her father and step mother David and Gail Barrett of Bow, N.H.; three brothers, Ronald (Sally) Barrett, Alhambra, Thomas (Susan) Barrett, Phelan, Mark Barrett, Lake Elizabeth; two sisters, Joanne (Gerry) Hall, Irvine, Peggie (Rodney) Jenkins, Topeka, Kan.; her niece and godchild, Jennifer and other nieces, Dina, Amanda, and Alyssa; nephews, David, Nicholas, Christopher, Bryan, Austin, Carson and Jayson. She is also survived by her best friend and companion in life, Yoshito (Dick) Yamashita. She was predeceased by her mother Patricia M. Barrett in 1982. A memorial service will be held at Lancaster Elks Lodge, 240 East Ave K, Lancaster, CA, 11 am, Thursday, February 20, 2014, Rev. Nancy Brown officiating. Private interment will be at Joshua Memorial Park Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gina’s memory may be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warriors Project, her favorite charities.
