Now We are Six
She left this world as she came into it, surrounded by love. The crowd was by far larger than at the time of her coming. Love brought her into this life, stayed with her over its course and followed her through her passing.
She lived a simple life, one with norms that brought failures and triumphs, disappointments and joys, sorrows and laughter, tears and smiles. She was resilient and withstood the toils, overcame the doldrums and reveled in the happier and treasured moments in life.
She was not perfect, as none of us are, but she was caring, decent and giving. She was both good and flawed. But she was genuine and an integral and irreplaceable part of our puzzle.
She was loved and gave love. She loved her family, one and all. She accepted all of us for who and what we are, as we did her. She had special bonds with her Children, Mother & Father, and particularly her lone Sister. She cared for all, but the latter is a bond that went beyond spoken words and was a deeper tie that only sisters can share.
In her later years, one of life’s twists gave her a child, her third. Having an opportunity to parent youth again, she rose to the challenge and forged a path of love and success for her late life’s joy. She shined in this endeavor and in doing so left an indelible and precious legacy for all to share and priceless memories etched in our minds.
Her last challenge, she faced boldly. She grew stronger in her faith and faced her foe with zest and a committed, positive spirit. While raising her young child and fighting her battle, this was when she shone the most and was truly inspirational. She fought hard and long, but passed on the day of the Resurrection of our Lord after not quite four years, believing to the final hours that she would triumph.
So now we are Six. She has joined our Brother and other cherished loved ones. She was and is loved and will be terribly missed. One day we’ll be reunited and we’ll see that special smile and hear that wonderful laugh. And then, oh what a time we’ll have!
